 GREENWOOD, Miss. (April 25, 2006) – Luxury home furnishings manufacturer John-Richard begins operation in July of a new manufacturing and distribution facility in Vietnam. Although the Greenwood, Miss.-based company has several offices throughout Asia and India, the new facility will be John-Richard’s first manufacturing operation in Asia. “These are exciting times at John-Richard, and the new Vietnam operation is another step in our company’s strategic plan of expansion and positioning John-Richard as the resource for luxury home furnishings,” said Alex Malouf, chairman and CEO of John-Richard. The manufacturing and distribution center is slated to begin production in July with an initial staff of 50-60 employees. “The new facility gives us the ability to control our quality and delivery to customers much more efficiently and effectively,” said Alan Galbraith, president of John-Richard. “Beginning in July, we will be able to handle product development on our own. The ability to create our own samples in-house gives John-Richard a shortened timeline from concept to the showroom floor and then delivery to the customer. “We also will have greater flexibility in the types of products we develop and produce as well as having inventory ready to ship the week after a market closes.” John-Richard’s Vietnam operation will have the initial capacity to manufacture and ship 10 containers of inventory per month. Galbraith said the operation has the capability of increasing dramatically the number of containers in years two and three. The first new products from the John-Richard Vietnam facility will be showcased at the October 2006 High Point Market. John-Richard, which has offices and showrooms in Mississippi, North Carolina, Texas, India, China, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam, offers a world of luxurious home furnishings including wall art, furniture, lighting, soft goods, mirrors, accessories, and botanicals.
